Privacy policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026

Bookworm ("we", "us") is an AI book-summary service available at bookworm.vivekkhare.org and as an Android app. It is operated by Dr. Vivek Khare, India. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and your choices. Contact: support@vivekkhare.org.

What we collect

How we use it

To sign you in, generate the summaries and audio you ask for, enforce plan limits, process payments, prevent abuse (including automated screening of uploads), fix problems, and contact you about your account. We do not sell your data and do not show ads.

Who we share it with

Security

Data is sent over HTTPS. Generated audio and uploads are reachable only by their owner when signed in. Sign-in uses one-time email codes or Google; we do not store passwords.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Account → Delete my account in the app or website, or see bookworm.vivekkhare.org/delete-account. Deletion removes your profile and everything you uploaded or generated immediately. Payment records are kept, without your name or email, for as long as tax law requires. Server backups roll over within 30 days.

Your rights

You can access, correct or delete your data, or withdraw consent, by using the account page or emailing us. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may also raise a grievance with us at the email above.

Children

Bookworm is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We'll update the date above when this policy changes and notify you by email of significant changes.
